Our Volunteers
Without our trained volunteer advisers we could not continue to meet the demands for advice. We have over 50 volunteers over our 3 bureaux, who undertake various roles from administration to advising. The value of our volunteers during 2009/2010 is estimated to be in excess of £220,000.
Our volunteer advisers:
- Interview clients using the ‘gateway’ assessment method
- Arrange for clients to seek advice from specialist agencies if appropriate
- Help them negotiate with people such as creditors or service providers
- Draft letters/make telephone calls
- Represent them in Court and at tribunals
People from all walks of life and across all ages volunteer at
Yare Valley CAB. Law students who train as CAB advisers can get
up to six months off their solicitor training contracts
